My Twelfth Month

Happy birthday to me... Happy birthday to me... Happy birthday to Kaylie... Happy birthday to me!!!! I am officially one year old! What a year I had! I learned to crawl, stand, eat, and laugh. I learned to love to dance, hang out with friends, and play with Mommy, Daddy, and Gramma. I can't believe that just a year ago I was in Mommy's belly... and now I know how much fun the outside world can be!

This month I was on the move. I just can't sit still... there's too much to do! I had my first french fry and I loved it!! (Like mother, like daughter.) I am just beginning to stand without holding onto something... it won't be long now until I start walking!  Mommy started a program with me that will help me learn to read. I have so much fun playing along with the videos and looking at the flashcards. Daddy took some time off of work to spend with me. We went to the zoo with Lily and Gramma and he bought me a pool so we could go swimming. The pictures should show you how much fun we had!

I celebrated my first Easter this month. Not only did Gramma buy me a beautiful purple Easter dress, but she was so creative and put cheerios in the eggs! I still love playing with my Easter eggs! She also bought me a Care Bear puppet... I think Mommy loves that as much as I do. Gramma's good friends Cathie and Dan even sent me presents all the way from Missouri... they are so thoughtful and always think of me at all the holidays.  They helped make my first holidays extra special!

We went to the cabin in Sonora again. This time the weather was perfect and there was no snow. They even had cups for me to play with!

Before my birthday I had already started getting some birthday presents in the mail. Look at what Cousin Abby sent me from Southern California. It's a water table. I loved the box almost as much as the table. I couldn't resist opening this present before my birthday. Even though it was freezing outside, I had a blast playing with the cold water.

My birthday was so much fun!  I opened up presents and had my first taste of cake.  Mommy spent over a month teaching me how to blow out my candles in hopes that I would be able to blow out the candle on my birthday cake.  You can watch the video to see what a great job I did.  I was so happy at the end of the day that I did not want to go to bed.  Watch the second video to see what I was doing after 10pm... the first 10 seconds or so of the video is the cutest part.

My Eleventh Month

I've really grown up this last month! I have four teeth now, I'm crawling around like crazy, I love feeding myself finger foods, and I'm having so much fun standing up! I'm starting to get very curious about these things called "no stairs." I celebrated my first St. Patrick's Day and had a blast. Mommy even gave me a special St. Patrick's Day cup! She knows how much I love my cups! Can you believe I kept those crazy pom-poms on my head all night?! Mommy's student was on T.V. doing Irish Dancing so she recorded it and watched it with me. I had no idea how much fun Irish Dancing could be! No matter what I'm doing if Mommy turns the dancing on I stop, watch, and dance! Unfortunately I got sick for the first time later that night, but luckily I got to enjoy the holiday first.

I went to a couple more Kings games this month. During my second game I went to in my life we got to hang out in a suite! Can you believe that?! It was so loud and fun! I was screaming and dancing! I even got on the big Kings Vision screen so everyone could see me!

Look at the trouble I got myself into. I was just trying to go the shortest route possible to reach the remote and I got stuck... I was not happy!

Let me tell you a little story. Once upon a time there was a wonderful road called Folsom Dam Road. It allowed easy access from Folsom to Roseville. Well, after 9/11 the federal government closed the road down because they thought it was a terrorist risk. Folsom residents now had to go through town, drive through old, Historic Folsom on one lane, and cross over a tiny bridge in order to reach the main road (this was part of Mommy's commute to work everyday.) This historic route was never meant for so many commuters, and traffic and businesses suffered. Folsom officials got on the ball and decided to build a bridge next to Folsom Dam Road and they were able to expedite the project! It has been almost exactly two years since the groudbreaking ceremony and the bridge finally opened! We went to the celebration festivities on opening day of Folsom Lake Crossing Road. It was a long, crowded walk, but the weather was perfect and so was I! I'm so happy that Mommy will now have a shorter commute and can get home quicker to spend more time with me!

At the end of this month I went down to Southern California during Mommy's spring break. We started off in Oceanside where I met up with my cousin Abby at Legoland. Everything was made out of Legos! I got to see Las Vegas, Washington D.C., San Francisco, New Orleans, and New York... all made of Legos! I had a lot of fun and even got to go on some rides!!

After Oceanside we headed up to visit Bubbie. One day while we there, Mommy and Daddy took me on a hike. We saw a huge snake and then we got a bit lost. It seemed like we were hiking forever. Somehow we ended up in a residential area, but we have no photographic evidence of anything except a wonderful, fun hike.

While I was down with Bubbie I got to visit my Southern California friends. Anna was so nice to me; she made me feel right at home by sharing all her toys. I loved her shopping cart filled with groceries... I'm going to be quite a shopper someday.

On my last day in town, I got to play with my cousin Abby. She taught me how much fun The Wiggles are. After Abby and I played awhile, Grandpa finally showed up from Texas! He loved playing with his little girls. He even tried to race me around on all fours! Mommy let me stay up past my bedtime so I could spend some extra time with him. When it was finally time for me to go to bed I gave him a big kiss goodnight. I can't wait to see him again!

These are some cute "just because" pictures that Mommy took of me this month and wanted to share.
